Corolla Again

I have always returned to Corolla, or in other way, gone back to the world of Toyota in the name of owning a Corolla. Many people have misunderstood the Toyota, for the right or wrong reasons, for a good understanding or misunderstanding. Toyota has made great cars, although not a handful that are to my taste, but I can always obtain inexpensively the Corolla and the Camry of the late 1990s. They are a joy to drive, entirely not boring.

Why would people call old and ageing Toyota boring is simply beyond me. They are direct, responsive and can be driven flat-out with high predictability bordering a highly-engineered sports car.

Here I am again, on the ownership of late 1999 AE110 with 5-speed stick.

It would be rare to find a Corolla engine with adequate output. Most of them, after 10 years, have reduced output due to tear and wear. They will last but they will not perform.

Today, July 3, 2013, the remote control has failed that the car sounded alarm whenever I opened and closed the doors. I was going to remove it but instead of replacing with a PLC one ($500 including part and labour). I was moved by the good looking and solid remote control.
